The U-Turn Oxigen has an unusual but very safe take off
characteristic. The kite can be raised a few meters off the
ground and gradually coaxed to the top of the window with
gentle S-turns before powering up. This is very useful when
the wind is near the top of the wind range or the surface
isn’t suitable for scudding
The kite can be also launched quickly if you wish, hold the
handles at the top and point the bottom of the handles towards
the kite to make sure the brakes are fully off. Give a long,
smooth pull, don't jerk or you'll also pull on the brakes,
if the wind is very light you can take a step back at the
same time and quickly turn the kite through the wind window
Less experienced flyers can trim the brakes quite tight so
that a crease can be seen on the undersurface near the trailing
edge. This improves the passive stability, but will reduce
the full range of the kite and it is best to learn to fly
actively and apply brake only when needed
In very gusty conditions you can tighten the brakes a little
for more stability, if you tie a second knot a few centimetres
up the brake leaders on the handles you can quickly adjust
the brakes when needed
The set-up of a kite is a very much down to personal preference
and you should experiment to find the settings and techniques
that suit you. Please contact us
